Turning a golfer’s frustration into technology that changed how courses manage the most important decision on every green.

THE FOUNDER

About Jon

Jon Schultz is the Founder and CEO of ezLocator, an inventor, entrepreneur, engineer, and accomplished competitive amateur golfer whose career has been shaped by one recurring question: What if there’s a better way?

Before there were patents, prestigious golf courses, or an established company, there was the 19th hole, where Jon and his playing partners regularly critiqued their weekend rounds. One issue kept coming up: hole locations.

Jon wondered why something every golfer experiences on every green was still managed largely by hand, habit, and traditional rotation systems.

By then, Jon had already built a substantial career in high technology. A 1977 mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Jon had spent years working in technology while also competing as an amateur golfer. Rather than dismissing the problem as simply part of the game, he began looking for a better system.

GEOEZ brings GPS precision to cup placement.

In 2008, Jon founded ezLocator. Dallas National Golf Club became its first customer in 2009, turning an idea born from conversations after weekend rounds into a real golf-technology business.

Over the years that followed, ezLocator developed into a patented platform designed to help golf course superintendents identify and manage optimal daily hole locations. Today, the technology is used by respected golf facilities across all 50 states, 8 countries, and approximately 40% of America’s Top 100 golf courses.

Jon’s inventions have received patent protection in both the United States and Europe. In 2026, he introduced GEOEZ, extending ezLocator’s precision from digital planning to the physical placement of the cup using GPS guidance.

Jon’s story extends beyond golf technology. It is also about entrepreneurship, reinvention, persistence, innovation, challenging established processes, and convincing traditional industries to embrace change. His perspective speaks to anyone who has ever seen something everyone else accepted as normal and asked: What if there’s a better way?

THE TECHNOLOGY

A better decision. On every green.

ezLocator is a golf-course operations technology company focused on transforming how golf facilities plan, manage, and execute daily hole locations.

The platform helps golf course superintendents use green mapping, historical data, hole-location history, operational rules, rotation strategies, course setup information, and precision technology to make better daily hole-location decisions.

Rather than depending primarily on memory, manual systems, habit, or repetitive rotation systems, ezLocator gives course teams a structured, data-driven approach to daily course setup.
